Feeding by Life Stage

🐶

Puppy

High-quality puppy formula. Standard Poodle puppies should use large-breed formula. Feed 3 times daily until 6 months, then twice.

Transition to adult food: 12 months

🐕

Adult

Typically need 900–1,500 kcal/day. Active and show Poodles need the higher end. Ensure omega-3s for coat maintenance. Two meals daily.

🐕‍🦺

Senior

Reduce calories slightly while maintaining protein and omega-3 levels. Monitor for Addison's disease symptoms.

Dietary Considerations

Elevated bloat risk — feed multiple smaller meals, avoid elevated bowls. Some develop sebaceous adenitis — omega fatty acid supplementation helps.

What to Look for in a Food

High-quality animal protein, fish oil for omega-3s, biotin for coat, adequate zinc. Protein 25–30% minimum for coat maintenance.
