Can Brittanys Eat Blueberries?
Blueberries are safe and nutritious for dogs. They are packed with antioxidants, fiber, and vitamins C and K, making them an excellent low-calorie treat option.
🐕 Brittany-Specific Guidance
For a Brittany (30–40 lbs), use the standard serving guidance, adjusting to your individual dog's weight and any breed-specific sensitivities.
Brittanys are predisposed to food allergies. If introducing blueberries for the first time, start with a very small amount and watch for itching, ear infections, or GI upset over the next 24–48 hours.
Nutrition Notes
High in antioxidants (anthocyanins), vitamin C, vitamin K, manganese, and dietary fiber. Low in calories at about 1 calorie per berry.
Serving Guidance
2–3 berries per 10 lbs of body weight as an occasional treat. Fresh or frozen both work well. Avoid blueberry muffins or products with added sugar.
Risks to Know
May be a choking hazard for very small breeds if not cut in half. Overfeeding can cause digestive upset. Avoid blueberry products with xylitol.
